Which game mode is required to get the completion credit for the win a battle with current era unit on your squad episode quest?

I tried the current era challenge repeatedly. I'm unable to clear tier 7 in coliseum against any of the bosses due to me not whaling on coliseum and having my account only couple weeks old.
My apologies, I missed where you already said about using a current era unit. If that's the case, you may end up missing out on the feat unless you luck out & beat your current tier
