QGJ omi not working?

I used a QGJ (with his omicron), Aayla, KAM, Lumi, and Kit lineup to take out randoms in an LV squad before going up with a stronger team to finish it off, and somehow the enemy squad was able to subvert QGJs omicron ability preventing deaths before QGJ himself is defeated. 

I've never had that happen to me before, so I'm wondering (a) is there some mechanic that can get around QGJs omi, or (b) is this guy cheating?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I don't want to assume he's cheating right off the bat.
