Im having the EXACT same issue! I have a brand new computer with lots of storage, great graphics, windows 11 and meets ALL of the requirements…. I haven’t been able to play sims 2 AT ALL as it crashes on loading households and I get the exact same error message! So frustrating!
do you find it loads ok with opening credits & selecting a world! But then as soon as you go to play a family it terminates? I’ve tried everything. Repaired the game, restarted my comp.. nothing works!! And EA haven’t mentioned a fix for this - just corrupted files it seems!!

I'm having this issue too. Patch did absolutely nothing to help!

I managed to fix. So don’t load a family, instead place one of the ready made houses onto the map and enter build mode. It should load all the way. Once you’re in, go to settings and turn off the shadow option! Save and then go back to the menu and try loading a household! It worked for me and I’m playing with no issues

I have the same problem! I don't know what the patch did, but I can't create or load a household. All I can do is look at the maps before the error message inevitably pops up. It's not very fun.
