You don't work for EA. You don't have any information I don't have. Unless they have made a public commitment to fix specific things, you have no idea what they will or won't do, and I'm not interested in speculation or hopes. Telling me to get a refund if I don't like this broken insanity shifts the responsibility onto us for a twenty-one year old game being repromoted when it is not in playable condition. It's bad enough when they release new content that doesn't work, but this is just insulting. The multibillion dollar corporation can fend for itself. They don't need unpaid volunteers to defend them.
