"The applicataion has crashed. The application will now terminate"

I've tried The Sims 2 discs, The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, and now this rerelease The Sims 2 Legacy on Steam, and all of them eventually crashed with this message: "The applicataion has crashed. The application will now terminate."

I won't get into everything I've tried in the past, but in troubleshooting this time with the rerelease, I noticed in Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 Legacy > Logs > Desktop-config-log.txt that my memory and free memory are both 0mb. I tried using a program called the 4bg patch, a recommendation I tried with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, which apparently fixes it for some, but my memory is still 0mb. I'm hoping that if the memory can be fixed, the game will stop crashing.

Please I want to play this game so bad 😭
