Sim completely disappeared after a crash?

Had played a sim for 2 hours, playing University. I had saved multiple times throughout gameplay, but none of them are there? The game had crashed during a load screen, when I had moved her out after graduation. Figured "oh well, I saved anyway it'll be fine." Nope. She doesn't exist at all now? Tried to go to the sims 2 files and no save existed? No one she was friends with have her in the relationship panel. She's just completely gone (^': 

This is incredibly frustrating. I bought this bundle because I absolutely loved sims 2 growing up, but if this is going to be a reoccurring thing (which it seems it is as I've seen multiple Sim streamers and other players say the same happened...) I might just return it and play the old versions. I almost never had this game crash until it got re-released for modern PC's.
