I'm having the same issue with the Sims 2 re-release. Sims in my game tend to have a low-quality "crunchy" sound to their voices and it's very distracting. Sometimes it's not as noticeable depending on the Sim, what they're saying and what other sounds are also playing, but most of the time they just don't sound right.
agreed, thank you for adding to this. i have a hard time explaining things but your description describes exactly what i've been experiencing
