sims 2 legacy “crashes” when i use the design tool

Same issue here. I may have identified the source of the glitch.

If I play with the designer tool on those low graphic settings the game gives me at a new lot, the designer tool window opens right where I clicked on screen (and where the edited object is), the cursor changes to an arrow icon and everything works well.

After I update my graphic settings to 4k resolution, high details etc., the designer window either opens at a completely random location (while my cursor is still the designer tool icon that I used to select the object; it doesn't allow me to do anything except going into the designer window, then it changes) or doesn't open at all – with the game still running, but not allowing me to do anything while my cursor being the designer tool icon).

I guess the designer window actually opens somewhere off-screen so we can't move the mouse into it to change the cursor and do anything.

Well, I also figured out a way to save the game when this glitch happens:

1. Use Alt+Enter for windowed mode. This unblocks some keys (notably F keys for listing through the menu) but the designer window still seems to be opened somewhere off-screen, in a top layer, so you can't actually click anywhere. But now you can...
2. Use Alt+F4 to close the game. A new UI window appears, asking you if you want to save. It's clickable because it apparently renders in a higher layer than the designer window. 
3. Click Yes, it saves the game and exits application.
4. Launch the game again, go to the lot – it's ready for you, with designer window closed. You haven't lost anything but your time and patience with this bug.

The best solution would still be for EA to fix the bug, though.

Hello, i have the Same Problem with the Design Tool and I have Found 2 ingame objects they are Invisible if you want to place them… so jo ea pls fix that we have paid for this….

I have the same issue. I cannot use the Design Tool because the window that is supposed to pop up is somewhere offscreen and I can't get to it. The only thing I can do is close the game from task manager. It's really annoying, I hope it gets fixed soon. :(
