Sims 2 Legacy toddler deleted after patch release

After losing three sims to the sim deletion bug I took a break from the new sims 2 release until they released the patch yesterday, supposed to fix this problem. Today I made a family to test it out including two parents and a toddler.

I went to a downtown lot to buy clothes for the toddler and came back to find he was still there, which was how I had lost my previous sims. Alas I thought it was working now so I played a bit longer and had a second child.

When he aged up into a toddler, I immediately sent the father to buy him an outfit and after returning my second child had disappeared. He was still part of the family portrait when loading the home lot, but was gone in actual gameplay. I closed the game and relaunched to see if any of my other sims would disappear (which happened before the patch) but they were all safe, and the toddler did not come back. Mom still has memory of having the baby but it is named “Had $Subject” (Simoleon sign) instead of his actual name.

Basically I wanted to post this just to bring more awareness to it in case anyone else is still having the problem post patch, and hopefully EA will try again. Is there any way I can fix this or should I just not leave the home lot as long as I have a toddler? Or will they just disappear after aging into a child as well? Are they ever safe? Maybe the lesson here is just that I need to stop sending my sims to the store to buy clothes for the toddler as soon as they age up because the toddler will vanish. Lol
