Sims 2 Legacy won't launch due to error code.

Stupid me just spend money on both the Sims 1 and 2 legacy games and thought they would just work. Can't open sims 2 legacy due to the following error code: The code execution cannot proceed because Core/Activation.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

I've already tried restarting my computer and uninstalling and reinstalling the game and nothing has worked so far. Anyone had this error and found a solution that worked?
