Cladbridge-on-Stowe: An English Village ON THE EXCHANGE

These pictures show my new world set somewhere in the idylic English countryside. It is called Cladbridge-on-Stowe.

The world is a large map which covers a large valley with a winding river (the river Stowe) and the surrounding hills and farmlands. There will be a large market village, a church, railway station, manor houses and plenty of space for rambling and horse riding.

SPEC: I have aimed to make it to the best standards as possible, including spawners and all rabbit holes.

- It will need Riverview, World Adventures, Ambitions and Late Night to work.

- Some empty lots are included to accommodate extra expansion pack functionality. Notably the 60x60 ranch lot and space for the rennaissance fair (may need rezoning).

- Because I think rabbit holes are too big to convey British architecture I am using the basement method. Map icons may appear a distance from the actual lot entrances.

- Although it is not essential, I've been using the "unlocked" riverview distant terrain. It can be found over at modthesims:

The world will work without it but the sea will be clearly visible from most angles.

Furthermore, the world takes advantage of some of Simsample and GiLaNg's unlocked neighbourhood objects (which show up fine if you have ambitions) Thanks should also go to Regina at bogsims.com and MrCrumplebottom1 for some of the road textures.

DOWNLOAD: The world is available now on the exchange:

SAVE GAME: Includes 18 households, each fully detailed with flavour texts, bios and relationships. It also contains small fixes (eg locked & unlocked doors) which make the world a bit better to play. It can be found here:

PERFORMANCE NOTES: The world has been playtested for two sim weeks with little issue. At one point the game showed lag but using the cheat resetsim * fixed the problem. Needless to say, if any issues arise please don't hesitate to inform me.
  • this is the prettiest world I have ever seen. thank you so much for creating it :D
  • I love this little world. I do have a question though... Why can't we edit the otherside of the gatehouse? Or is it just me that can't edit that little lot?
  • breannaKristine - I locked that lot from being able to be edited. I did so mainly to stop it from showing up and cluttering the 'edit town' screen.

It is easy enough to unlock. There's plenty of info online to help you do it if you really want to ;)
  • Doublemedion, I have to say congratulations on the feature! You certainly deserve it, with this beauty. Cheers and hats off to you!
  • Hi doublemedion694

    Congratulation for the feature!

I know I am a little late, but I was so busy with CAW and my WIP Caceres that I have had no time to play your world till yesterday, CAW not being playable with the new patch gave me a real game evening.

It is so nice and so much English looking! I have called my save game St. Mary Mead (from A.C. Miss Marple) and got the characters placed in the homes I found much suitable for them and had a fabulous playing time. Thankyou very much for this gift, you have made a great work.
  • Thanks very much for the acclaim folks! I appreciate that it must take time to come and tell me specifically that you like my world so thank you :-D

yanqui9 - As far as I can tell I have put all the available spawners in Cladbridge at least once. Of course, some are very well hidden amongst fields or on lots so its just a case of looking hard ;)

If you're experiencing lag then how about trying "resetsim *" because it might be due to a stranded person stuck somewhere on the map (I know that that has disrupted my play of the world a couple of times).

  • This is such a picture perfect village, so lovely to see something that feels so clearly British.

It does remind me of a village more in the south, but that's not a bad thing ;) The mix of building periods of architecture I think is what makes this so perfect, the tudor influences, the thatch roof style roofline, the 'new build's' and even the little petrol station! I love it
  • This world is just stunning and I cant wait to play in it but I have a question

I downloaded the Bluefunk_Riverview_DistantTerrain_InGame package so I dont see the sea in the distance , do I put this in my documents/Mods/packages folder ?

And do I need the farm distant terrain package as well ?
  • Giving this thread a bump because it deserves it. :D

I've started work on a village of my own. It's smaller than yours, but I've taken inspiraiton from Cladbridge-on-Stowe, particularly from your superb terrain painting and landscaping. I hope you don't mind. :)
  • Thanks guys for the cintinued compliments!

simmese - yes, both the distant terrain files need to be downloaded for the distant terrain to work (see the modthesims page for full instructions).
