- I just had to through Nraas Porter as I made the mistake of starting a legacy in Isla Paradiso, I moved them to Aurora Skies
- Around 100,000 times (slight exaggeration), but by using mods rather than the EA way.
If you move a sim to a new world the EA way, by the phone/computer command, it removes all relationships with and memories of sims in the original world and removes the original from play entirely. It is essentially a shortcut for copying your sim/household to the bin and placing them into a new game.
NRaas Porter Mod: Allows you to pack up a subset of the world, multiple households, and move it to a new one. Again, the original world is removed from play as any copy of it would still have the original sims in it. Relationships and history among the sims portered up and moved that way are maintained, but not with those permanently left behind.

NRaas Traveler Mod: Allows you to move a household to a new world while keeping the original world and all of its inhabitants in play, in a state of suspended animation as a potential travel-back destination or a source to bring additional sims into the newer world later. All relationships and history are maintained and both worlds can be playable within the same ongoing game, only one a time by traveling or transitioning back and forth.

I currently have 16 worlds connected using the Traveler method in my one ongoing game and frequently move sims and transition active play between them. Really only 5 of them are my sims' homeworlds at any given time, the rest are the WA worlds, Uni, Oasis, some additional vacation spots where they like to revisit, and a couple where there is no reason to return but they are where my sims used to live and they still have some friends and extended relatives back there. - > @igazor said:

Should i get the traveler mod or porter? I'd just like to keep the sims where they are so that i can visit them later on through a vacation. I think Robbaz (a funny and popular Swedish youtuber) has just traveler. "MagicEmerald;c-16547481" wrote:

There's no harm in having both mods, but they each do different things.
Porter is for moving dozens of sims in different households into a new (to them) world. It destroys the one they moved from within that ongoing game.
Traveler is for moving one household or a subset of a current household and keeps both worlds in play.- IreneSwift8 years agoSeasoned AceI have done the in-game move, both with and without Traveler. It has always worked pretty well for me, either way. But I did learn early on that I should pack anything I wanted to keep in my sims' household inventory, because even if I selected for them to pack their furniture, certain things would always be left behind. Fitness equipment never got transported unless I packed it myself. But then I also discovered that if I chose to sell the furniture, after packing everything I wanted, everything I had packed disappeared from the household inventory too. That was before Traveler though.
The one big advantage to moving in-game with Traveler installed is that if you want to edit the the world, you can do that beforehand, save your edited world, and copy the nhd file from that save to your current save. Otherwise, the game will move you to a fresh copy of the world in its original state, without even any EP community lots installed, even if you put the nhd for an edited version in your current save folder. - Glenduil8 years agoNew SpectatorEvery once in a while, I copy my entire household, pets, and house, start a whole new game in a new world, and drop my house into an empty lot large enough. I do it to clear out all the things that make my game lag.
- I've done it by evicting a household to the library and moving them into another game in a new town to show them moving to their new home and leaving the city behind.
- I have moved my sims numerous times to different worlds. It’s quite easy. Just save everyone to the bin, start a new save and put them into the world again. Making sure all career buildings are there before you do. Relationships I repair now using Mastercontroller.
I am planning to play a straying sim and for him I’m going to install Traveler. But even without the mod I think Sims 3 is very friendly where it comes to changing worlds, thanks to the bin system (preserving all their inventory and progression). - I’ve always used the EA way of moving to a new town via phone. However, I recently downloaded Porter from Nraas, because I wanted to move my sim family to a new world. Their kids were teens and had partners in the current world. I wanted to move their partners, as well as their families, since they were teens. Porter was verysimple and quick to move them to a new world. I am not very tech savvy and couldn’t believe how simple it was to use.
- SimplyJen8 years agoSeasoned AceEvery generation for a change of scenery. I use the handy NRaas: Traveler mod.
I had about 7 worlds connected at one point but started "fresh" simply by packing the household up the old school way. The family tree was a bit of a mess (not related to Traveler) and I didn't feel like fixing it.
