ambitions will not launch...pc download through origin

are you using a combo of disc and download? If so you still need the disc to play.  Your game should be patched to 1.67.

have you downloaded Origin? You need orgin to play and patch the game. This is for PC but if you need Mac scroll down to the Mac Link.

thanks for replying.  My base game is patched to 1.67. However, I could only patch ambitions to 4.5 because there was a downloading error on patch 4.6.  I'm still not sure though why it wont work.  I bought both games, base game and ambitions through origin via pc download.  they both installed fine.  It's just now when I try to click my base game to play ambitions, the game will not launch.  the launcher disappears but nothing happens.  Is there anything else that could be causing this problem?  Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Now that we have origin you don't need to patch any EP's only that the base game is patched to 1.67.. Were you trying to patch ambitions manually? If so you don't need to do that. This maybe your problem.

Then do a clean install and dont patch ambitions.

Hi.  I uninstalled ambitions and reinstalled it minus the updates to it.  I click on the sims 3 launcher button and nothing happens.  the game never loads.  I'm just inclined to believe the ep just don't like my computer and I don't know why.  I can play the base game.  I haven't had any error messages...At least with an error message you have an idea of what 's causing the problem.  I am just really confused with it.

Could you post this info: 

1. Click on Start and then type the following into the search prompt at the bottom: perfmon /rel
2. Press Enter to proceed.
3. A window will open and in there you can click on the red circles with a white X.
4. After clicking the X, the info on the bottom will update. Choose the Sims 3 Critical Event one and right click on it and choose "View Technical Details"
5. Now on the next window, choose Copy to clipboard at the very bottom and post this into a reply to us here.

Also what base game version are you currently at ? 1.67 ?

My game is patched to 1.67.  I had to right click the info because clipboard would not work.

Ah, the paul.dll issue.

Try the following: 

1. Find the paul.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\Packs\TS3EP02 (could be in a subfolder of that
2. move it do the desktop
3. Find the paul.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\ (could be in a subfolder of that but not in one of the packs
4. Copy the paul.dll form the bae game to the folder where you've removed the other file.

Hope my instructions are clear. If not, please ask before doing.

Could you be a little more clear on the directions.  I found the first paul, but getting to the second is a bit confusing.  Also not sure which paul goes where..Sorry😕mileyembarrassed:  Maybe paul 1 paul 2 or something to that effect?  thank you!
