bad draw distance?

I'm having graphics issues, from far away my trees are all messed up and i cant see houses even close to the lot i'm on, highest graphics are set in game, i've done the graphics card recognizer program. left side is just zoomed in more. this is my first time playing this game in many years and forget how to fix this broken game. it happens in all worlds, my specs are modern so i'm not sure if there's a setting in nvidia 3d settings i can change? i did try adjusting antialiasing already in manage 3d settings already but didn't seem to fix anything. no mods were installed other than lighting mod in these pictures, the graphics are the same without it just darker.

cpu i7 2.6ghz x 6 core

gpu geforce rtx 2060 mobile

ram 16gb

  • @hiyessims  I have no idea what's going on in the first screenshot.  Is that Photoshopped or two images combined, or is that what you actually see on your screen?  And what world does it happen in?

    For the second and third screenshots, the relevant setting is high-detail lots: any lots in the image above that number are rendered in low detail regardless of your other settings.  But increasing this setting past 3 or 4 can severely impact game performance: even though your machine can handle it, the game engine cannot, for various reasons.  I leave this on 2 while playing and only increase it on the rare occasion I want a nice screenshot.

    Anti-aliasing won't have any effect on either of these issues.  It only smooths out what would otherwise be jagged lines and borders.

    @hiyessims  Map View is very low-resolution and always has been.  I don't know of any way to fix this; it would likely take a mod that, as far as I know, no one has ever made.  I would guess it's a resource-saving measure by EA, and I personally just try to ignore it.

    As for the trees in the distance when you're not using Map View, you could play around with this setting in graphicsrules.sgr:

    option TreeQuality
         [...]
    	setting $VeryHigh
    	    prop $ConfigGroup RenderTreeLargeLODDistances  "30, 400, 3000, 3300"
    	    prop $ConfigGroup RenderTreeSmallLODDistances  "30, 350,  3000, 3300"
    	    prop $ConfigGroup RenderTreeShrubLODDistances  "30, 300,  3000, 3300"
    	    prop $ConfigGroup RenderTreeGroundLODDistances "15, 80,  3000, 3300"

    Sufficiently increasing the second value for each parameter should give you moderately-detailed trees in the distance.  But it's also going to increase the demands on the game engine, just so you're aware.

    As for the trees rotating, I haven't noticed that myself.  Does it only happen to trees in the distance, or up close too?

    From what I've found online other people who had this issue had old AMD graphics cards who had this issue so i'm not sure why i am having it.. and they fixed it with what I said before. but ive changed all those 3d settings and gone back in and out of game so many times and its not fixing. 

    When 'm in game sometimes the trees disappear and re appear. just a few spaces away from where my lot is. the trees look awful from far away too. like they are flat textures painted.

    I'll try to mess with graphicss rule 😞

    I don't think i can get it to properly work, but its okay it doesn't make it unplayable, thanks for your time.
