Black lines on sim's faces

I've been playing the Sims 3 for a while now and I haven't had any major issues with it. It runs smoothly and I can play without a lot of stuttering, lag, glitches, etc. The one issue I've come across in two of my saves, though, is these odd black lines on my sim's faces. In my first save where it's most noticeable it seems to only occur when the sims are sleeping. It may be hard to see but if you zoom in on the screenshot there's these set of black lines on the sim's chin. In my other save (which I haven't provided a picture of) I had the the same problem and got rid of it temporarily by deleting a set of cc contacts that were causing the black lines to show up. Those contacts are no longer in my game and yet the issue persists. I'm not sure of what to do exactly and any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • @noorhanss0111  Please test with no custom content present at all, just to rule out more bad cc as the issue.  As long as you don't save your progress, the cc should still be present in your saves once you restore the files.

if that doesn't help, you can try enabling anti-aliasing for TS3.exe (Origin install) or TS3W.exe (disc or Steam install) in the control software for your graphics card.  I'm only familiar with the Nvidia options, which would be:

    Antialiasing - FXAA: On

    Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On

Antialiasing - Mode: Override any application setting

Antialiasing - Setting: [anything 2x or more is fine]

I believe Radeon software has several options as well, but you'd need to test them to see whether any made a difference.

Hello, thank you for your response! I tested my game without custom content and the issue was still present, so I was able to rule out the possibility of bad custom content being the cause of the issue. After enabling all of the Nvidia options, the lines have disappeared. Although I've come across a new issue that I haven't had before. After using NRASS's error tap mod to reset my town (just to clear extra things that would otherwise lag my game), I found this weird gray patch on the lot. I can't delete it or anything and I've used this mod several times before and it worked fine. I was wondering if there's anything I can do to perhaps remove it or prevent it from happening? Thank you again for your reply, I really appreciate your help!

@noorhanss0111  That looks like a leftover jig, perhaps a social jig, the kind that normally gets deleted but might remain if a certain action (e.g. an interaction between sims) is interrupted.  If it is a jig, you should be able to delete it with MasterController.  Click on the ground of this lot, select NRaas > MC Object Stats > Not Inventory, and look for anything with "jig" in the name or anything that looks like that circle.  Even if it's not a jig, you should be able to find the object on the list.

Just as a note: most objects can safely be deleted this way, but DO NOT delete any plumbobs or anything that has a warning in its name.  And to be extra safe, use "save as" and rename the save after deleting the object, then quit and restart.  That way, if you did happen to delete anything critical, you'd be able to revert to the previous save.
