BLACK SCREEN WITH SOUND

I own The Sims 3 on disk and installed it yesterday. Whenever I go to play the game it just brings up a black screen on my computer with the sound in the background. 

I've tried updating all my hardware/software and nothing happened. I've patched it and nothing has happened. I don't have any CC on there as I've only just go it and it's not working at all. PLEASE HELP ME
