I ended up going on the Origin Website and talking to Customer Support. As far as I can tell, they are the only ones who can fix it. (it's happened to me twice, once with World adventures, once with University Life)

Hello guys!
I had the same problem as most of you but I was able to solve it and see my game registered. However, everytime I try to install custom content from 3rd parties and/or just plain play the base game, I get an EA message asking me for my product key. I, then, enter the code I received on my email and it keeps on asking me for my key. Can anyone help me? I don't understand why it keeps on asking me for my product key and doesn't allow me to even play the game at all.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: I decided to contact EA Support through Live Chat and my problem seems to be fixed. The assistant was excellent! :D Happy Sim
Did somebody tell you what to do to fix this problem? The same thing is happening to me ... ☹️ I can registered the game I downloaded from origin. Thank you for your help

I was having the same problem. After some frustration I noticed that Origin already registered the games for me. Thanks Origin. I hope you have some luck on registering your games.
Check your page on the Sims 3 website and see if those games are showing as registered there. My problem (and probably most of the others on this thread) is that the games are being registered, but they are not correctly showing up in the "My Games" section of the website.
They only show up in the game launcher and in origin.
I have had this happen twice. Last weekend I bought 3 expansion packs, and I was in online chat with an EA game advisor for more than an hour. In the end they had to get new codes for the games and register them.
Since their is a big sale going on now, I bought more expansion and stuff packs yesterday. Same issue. Game advisor had to register the games for me using new codes.
This thread has hundereds of people with the same problem, and I don't recall see any official answer from EA. I hope they get this fixed before The Sims 4 comes out next summer. I don't want to have to go through this every time I buy a new game.
I guess nothing has been done since im having the same issue buying online ☹️
