  • @FabioDcn  Sims 3 in its current form doesn't run in Catalina because the game is 32-bit, and Catalina is 64-bit only.  EA has announced that it will be releasing a 64-bit-compatible version of TS3 sometime in early 2020.  Here's the full announcement:

In the meantime, your only option is to play in another operating system, either on a different computer or by installing a different OS (via Bootcamp or a virtual machine) on your Mac.

@puzzlezaddict Hi, any chance you can give me some info on bootcamp/ a virtual machine. A few of my games now no longer work due to catalina and I'm not patient enough to wait for the updates!

@Damnitschloee  Sure, I'd be glad to help.  But how easy or difficult it is to Bootcamp will depend on the specs of your Mac.  Please list everything here:

Plus, on the About This Mac pop-up, click Storage and let me know how much free storage you have.

Bootcamp is a better option than a VM for newer games (including Sims 3) because the drivers included in Parallels are not great.  (The GPU drivers included in other VM software are either terrible or nonexistent.)  But Parallels works fine for some older games, plus it takes less space and doesn't require you to reboot to launch it.

The other option, if you don't have a lot of storage, is to install Mojave on an external hard drive.  You'd need temporary access to a Mac that hasn't been updated to Catalina yet, but then you could boot into Mojave from your current Mac.

Let me know about the specs and storage, and which of these options you'd like to know more about.
