I have just bought and downloaded (from Origin) Island Paradise today. It installed perfectly. Got to the main menu and clicked new game, selected the Island, and it loads fine. Once it loads to the new Island I can choose a family, but I can not play it. It just will not load. I have tried bringing an exising family in, and the same thing. I can't play the game at all. I found the patch and installed it, and it still won't work. I can click on a family and click the checkmark to start, the checkmark fades to grey and it just stops. Nothing happens. Edit: I have every single expansion and world except for Dragon Valley. I have no mods, and all custom content was removed. This did not help. My old towns and games still work perfectly fine.

All right, I may have found a work around.After trying everything that has all ready been mentioned to no avail, I had an idea.First - Start a new game with the settings you want.Second - Go to edit town (after creating a family if you wish) and move in your family that way.Third - Return to game set up if this step fixs the issue just continue as normal, if it doesn't, keep reading.Forth - Save the game.Fifth - Return to Main Menu.Sixth - Select the game you just saved, once the game loads you should be able to select/move in households as normal.I hope this helps, it worked for me but there's no telling if I got lucky or if this is a legit solution.For contex sake, I have all EP with the exception of Pets, several store worlds and other bits of store content, some CC and about 4/5 of Twallen's mods plus add ons for them.

Performed what EA calls a factory reset (deleted My Documents/Sims 3 folder.Haven't tested everything but it lets me start a new game and it seems my problems are gone.

I'm having the same problem. It's making me really pissed off because all of these games cost a lot of money and I want to get what I paid for!! If I wanted to just watch The Sims 3, I'd watch videos on youtube and wouldn't waste my money. I have mods (all are compatible with version 1.55, my game is fully patched, none of the mods conflict with each other, etc) in my game, but the mods aren't the problem. There is no way I'm going to remove all of the mods because I spent the day (no joke) looking for them and installing them, in addition to The Sims 3 base game and all of its expansion packs (minus High End Loft Stuff and Diesel). Can anyone please help me? Or better yet, can EA make a patch to fix this?? I'm ready to throw everything out!!!!!!!! 😕mileymad:I can't play any household: not the new ones I created and not the households that are already in their lots. Please help!!!

so first go to edit town mode then put your household on the lot u want then go to game set up press the tick then save to the menu the go back then to edit town and press switch to this household, worked for me 😕mileyvery-happy: but it might freeze for a bit but wait

I have the exact same issue as you do, and I don't play with any mods.
If anyone has a fix or workaround, I'd be highly interested as the game is simply unplayable with that bug.

I am having the exact same issue as well. Please help. Can only play games already saved and unable to play new households in all worlds not just Island Paradise. Game is unplayable if you can't play new families or worlds. Even if you create your own family, choose a house or lot, it will not let you start playing them. The check button becomes gray and the game does absolutely nothing. The only thing I am allowed to do is view houses in the neighborhoods. Please help.

I am having the same problem.
Installed explansion, got the latest patch 1.55
Made a sime, remodeled a house, tried to move sim into house won't let me play.
The checkmark button was faded out.
Could get to edit town.
No mods or custom content.

Had nothing to do with mods or CC!! Just go into the EA doc folder, enter into the DCCache folder and delete all .tmp files. Open the game and if it still doesn't work, try bypassing the launcher. Have fun simming! 😕mileyvery-happy:

Its happening to me to, except im also haveing the pregnancy loop glitch in the game i had already started and i cant move out of the house. the last time something like this happened i had to reinstall the game. but now i have every expantion pack, this is gonna take forever.

ok I had the same problem and so far I haven't had to reinstall any games. This is what I did I followed the directions to delete cache files from

Delete everything this page says and see if it will fix your problems before you go through all the trouble of reinstalling cause it fixed mine. I tried what someone else said on this post about deleting the temp files didn't work for me.
