Console version of Sims 3 Pets keeps freezing when creating a pet.

Hey I've been playing the Sims 3 pets for a while now on my PS3 without many problems, the occasional freezing and crashing but nothing major. Then yesterday when I was halfway through creating a dog I went to the coat options where you add different layers of markings and clicked 'Add new layer' there were no layers except the base coat color at this time. As soon as I clicked it nothing happened, I couldn't go down to any other options or try to cancel what I was doing, or go back to any other things at all. I could still twirl the dog around and zoom in on it + take pictures to save to my console but that was it. Now everytime I try to click this option the same thing happens and I have to turn the game off and loose everything I've done in Create a Sim. Incredibly frustrating and limiting how far I can design any dogs. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thank you 🙂
