corrupted save file sims 3

My Sims 3 save file won't load, so I looked up how to fix it on Google. There was a simple method that basically included switching the .backup file to the original save, but I don't have a.backup file for my corrupted save. Is there a way I could repair my save file? (The game loads with other worlds)

  • @tubidi75  The backup copy of the save is created the second time you save your progress: the data from the first time you saved becomes the backup.  Then each subsequent time you save, the previous time's data becomes the backup.  Point is, if you only saved once, there wouldn't be a backup.

How many times have you saved?  If backups aren't being created, that's a separate issue that should be looked into.  And did you save for the last time today (March 22) at 15:39, or did you save again later than that?

Anyway, if you don't have a backup, what you can do is load a new save in the same world, in this case Bridgeport, save your progress, and quit.  Then delete the .nhd file inside the new save folder and copy over the .nhd file from your corrupt save.  This doesn't fix everything, just a subset of problems, but it's easy to try.  You'll see a different household at the Main Menu because that thumbnail doesn't get replaced, but it should be fixed the next time you save the game.
