It is seriously irritating that this has been a problem for THREE YEARS. I am getting back into the Sims 3 on my Mac and having the exact same problems as the rest of you. I can't believe how recently people have been talking about it. It's really discouraging. I'm interested in learning how to mod the game just to fix this. Does anyone have any pointers? I'd like to learn the coding language the game uses and compare the files for ocean interactions between my Mac and my Microsoft versions of the game. It would be fantastic if EA would help, but that seems to be a lost cause at this point, so I'm willing to take this into my own hands. Any comments at all are welcome.
I can't understand this at all either, since sims 3 is still being sold.
I have at least found a way for my Sims to go boating: I let them swim far out where I want and then when I click on "home" they even use the boat or cab.
This is not a solution at all, but it gives back a little game experience.
