DeviceLog Empty

Hi everyone, so I am getting pretty desperate. I bought a gaming laptop a few months ago now. Excited, I downloaded the sims 3 but realised my graphic card was not getting recognised. Therefore, I decided to go and follow a tutorial on youtube but apparently along the lines, I did several mistakes and can't seem to make my game work. I messed up the graphic cards files and since then it always gives me my device log empty. I tried to remove it etc, put it back, change along, put the GPU support mod, tried to download another one, updating my nvidia drivers through links and intel...I even reset my entire laptop after several months of trying to make it work...I just want my game to work and play...

PS: my first language is french, not english 🙂

My question is what should I do now?

  • @valentineNANA  The unrecognized graphics card can be annoying but doesn't prevent Sims 3 from running well, so the first step is to get it working again.  For that, please repair the game: open your EA App game library, click Sims 3, and select Manage > Repair.

Next, apply the Alder Lake patch to TS3.exe, or use one of the other workarounds for the Alder Lake (and newer) issue covered in the accepted solution of this thread:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-3-won-t-open-Alder-Lake-Intel-12th-gen-CPU/m-p/11057820#M248615

Before doing anything else, test the game, and let me know whether it runs.  Check the DeviceConfig.log again to see whether Sims 3 is using your Intel iGPU or the Nvidia card, also fixable if necessary.  I can help you get your Nvidia GPU recognized too; if you want help adding the card manually, just ask.

I installed the patch and woah, thanks a lot! I heard about it before but I didn't realise I needed that for my laptop. Thank you, it launched my game!

I think it uses Nvidia. I had the "graphic card not recognised" pop up after it was done launching.

I don't want to mess up my game once more, what can I do to make the game recognise my graphic card? Here's my graphic device info:

@julierezende  The Graphics device info listed is in DeviceConfig.log, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.

If you'd like help getting your card recognized, please post that same section of the log.
