EA app wont launch sims 3

Hey, ive been scouring this particular topic for a week or two. I have among many things tried the intel alder lake patch ( both the lady duchess one and the normal one), i have tried the framework 3.5 setup, as well as editing the compatibility setting via the application properties in the folder. Obviously nothing worked.

I have gathered as much info as i think might be useful.

Product ID: 00325-97235-97005-AAOEM

System type : 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

The Lenovo Legion 5 Gen 6 15 Ive attached my dx file if that would be of any help..

  • @ibeupsidedown  Thanks for the dxdiag and error message.  This particular error is typically related to the EA App or someone's account, not necessarily the game install.  Still, please clear the App's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repair Sims 3 (under Manage), then try again to play.

Repairing will undo the effects of the Alder Lake Patch (of which there's only one, by the way), but that's fine, your laptop doesn't need it.

Since your dxdiag is full of generic Windows update errors, please also run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Try to play, and if you can't, let me know what antivirus you use and whether OneDrive is running on this computer.  It's possible Sims 3 is being blocked from starting rather than crashing.

Greetings and i thank you kindly for taking your time to help me.

I ran both commands. The first one completed it without issue and the second one says

"Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32>"

I suppose that would be good?

I already tried clearing cache as well as repairing the sims 3 atleast twice a while back, should i redo now that ive done these things?

Also onedrive was activated until yesterday when i sent the post and saw that you had advised other to shut it off. Or atleast i think i did, i am not techy at ALL.

As for antivirus programs, im sure ive turned it all off including the windows system one itself.

I apologize for taking your time.

@ibeupsidedown  The DISM and sfc results are exactly what you'd want, so at least that part isn't an issue.  As a test, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account.  (You'll be asked to answer a few security questions instead.)  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 3 without reinstalling anything.  This will distinguish between problems tied to your main account and more global issues.

You have nothing to apologize for and are not taking any more time than I'd want to spend.  I do this because I enjoy it, both the problem-solving and getting people back into their games.

Apologize for the delay, i switched out of my Microsoft account to a local one, although it did not ask for any verification or questions like it said it would.

I attempted again to launch sims 3 and nothing worked. Same error as before. This time i even tried adding onto it by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Should i give up?

@ibeupsidedown  You should definitely not give up if you'd still like to play.  Instead, let's make sure nothing is wrong with the configuration of the new account.  Sign into it, search for command prompt, open it, and enter this command, starting with reg query:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

    Please post the result here.

Please also look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Launch the game and let it fail to open.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to launch Sims 3.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Finally, do you know anyone who owns Sims 3 in the EA App or who has an EA Play subscription?  (The game is free with EA Play.)  If so, could you borrow their account to test on your computer?  It's the fastest way to establish that the problem is the EA account, if that's the case.  Less definitive but still helpful would be to test your account on a different computer, one where the game has never been installed.
