Entire household disappeared?

Hi, sorry if this question has been asked before but I couldn't find a thread about my exact predicament.

I was playing without any mods and everything was fine. Then I added a bunch of NRaas mods to my game. Everything went smoothly until I realized one of my Sim's Old Friends (Kirby Wise) was missing. She's completely gone from the game and doesn't even show up as dead. It's like she never existed. I tried everything: tried to reset her, tried to see if I could add her back through NRaas MC, tried to see if she was in another town and bring her back to Bridgeport, tried to focus on her -- nothing worked. Then I tried to see if I could reset her household, so I tried to focus on one of the Sims who lives with her. Then I realized that Sim is also missing. In fact, the entire Drama on TV household is missing.

I'm not sure why this happened. I read that this glitch can happen when people travel with their Sims, but I didn't travel with mine. The Sims who disappeared weren't even in my active household. I assume it's due to the NRaas mods I downloaded. After I noticed the glitch, I downloaded Overwatch and Story Progression to see if I could recover the household through one of those modules, but nothing worked. And, unfortunately, I only noticed the mistake after I had saved my game a few times, so I can't use the backup save.

Does anyone know how I might be able to solve this problem? Or at least offer some advice on how I can prevent this from happening again?

Thank you for reading this and offering any advice.

  • @hyfrdeanna  Immigration and emigration are controlled by NRaas StoryProgression, so if you didn't already have SP installed, you were working with the default emigration system built into the game.  This system is unreliable at best and will absolutely do things like remove an entire household for no reason at all.  With NRaas SP installed, emigration is off by default, although you can enable it, either in general or for a specific household, if you want.

To be extra specific, NRaas mods would never emigrate a household or delete a sim without your permission, but the mods can and will clean up leftover data if they find it and can't resolve it.  So without the mods, you might have had some stray info about your sim's friend, whereas with the mods, that info is removed too.

Regardless, all you can do from here is find another copy of the household, for example in a new save in the same world, save that household to the bin, and deposit it into your current save.  If you want, you can use NRaas MasterController to rebuild the friendship and any other data you care about, for example careers or money or other relationships.

    Thanks for your response.

I feared that would be the case, but I was hoping I could recover the household somehow. I couldn't find a solution after hours of searching, so I ended up doing exactly as you said: I copied the household to the bin, placed it into my current save, and rebuilt their friendship with mods.

And, yes, you're right --- I only installed SP after the problem occurred. I'm disappointed that I couldn't recover the original Sim, but I'm just glad I can prevent it from happening again.

Very strange. I've been playing TS3 for years and I can't remember ever having an entire household just disappear like that.
