Game options reset after video driver updates.

It seems that every time my video card drivers update The Sims 3 options menu restores to default settings including lifespans and Seasons related settings not just the video settings which I have to go back and reset them all.  My video card is a Nvidia 1650 Super that can run the game at maximum settings without issue as far as I know.  Is there a way to edit the default settings to match my current settings so I don't have to keep resetting them?  Or can you just fix the issue?

What I do is I keep a spare copy of Options.ini on my desktop, in case I forget about a driver update.  Then I can restore that spare copy, with the proper lastdevice line from the new copy that was reset.

It certainly should help.  I kind of don't see why there should even be a last driver ID to be required in the options settings INI.  Especially if it causes a reset of said options every time the drivers updated.

@4a7c14baff517f5e  I agree that the options shouldn't reset, but this may have been less problematic or easier to justify in 2009.  Regardless, it's not something that can be fixed at this point since Sims 3 is long out of development.
