GTX 1050, getting card recognized in game.

OK so I managed to get the new card in, and it works... BUT in my Device config it says (found 0, Matched 1). I can't seem to write in the right part in the graphicsrules file to get it "Found". I'm going under the NVIDIA portion, but I can't seem to find where to add in my portion, and not entirely sure WHAT to write in.

SO under cards I added card 0x008c "GeForce GTX 1050"

Then in Graphics rules, I see the Nvidia section... but not sure what I should write. Would it be:
or match("${cardName}", "*GTX 1???*") or or match("${cardName}", "*GTX 10?0*") or would it be something else?

So in game its obviously super smooth and rendering is top notch. I have an HQ mod and it works beautifully at this point. I just don't get why its not "found" in the config file.

Thanks for any help!
  • I can help you with this by PM if you want. But most players on cards released after a certain point don't really need them to be formally recognized as they perform just fine without those steps.
  • If only the directions were not in PMs. :) I seem to be having similar problems.
  • @KatAnubis - If you meant the instructions for getting a card formally recognized, we do this by PM because everyone has different model cards and we don't want to confuse players with what could sound like conflicting information. But here is the general guide:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=4782510&posted=1#post4782510 (it's post # 12 on that thread if the link gets mangled)

It's much more important to cap those frame rates though, that we discuss on open because they affect everyone the same way no matter what brand card they have. Not everyone needs to have their card formally recognized, for many it just doesn't make any difference to its performance.

Thanks for the kind words. But I'm afraid this is why we don't help with formal graphics card recognition on open channels because individual cases tend to get confused. Their graphics card is not the same model as yours as we could see from a different thread. Even if it were a GTX 1050, their Device ID might be different.

But as said, getting that frame rate capped first is much more important. @KatAnubis - do you still need help or is everything under control now? :)
  • @nsnilay - Hi there. Not the same issue as these other players were having. I've responded on the New Members thread. It's really best to not post the same issue on multiple threads as we then end up with multiple confusing conversations.

  • You also need to add the card to Nvidia control panel and use vsync. Igazor may have already sent you instructions but if you need more help just ask since I play on Nvidia

    see this thread http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/906947/limit-fps-on-1070#latest
  • @KatAnubis I followed a few different things, but igazor really helped a lot. Especially because I don't actually KNOW what most of the stuff means ;) or anything.. really.. if we're being honest.

I ended up going into my graphicscards file and adding in 0x1c81 GeForce GTX 1050, to the cards section, then also adding in the match ("${cardName}", "*GTX 1???*") part in two sections of graphicsrules file.

I used what igazor suggested as well as these tutorials
