Help with marrying foreigners, please?

In my France, Yves Bernard, is the general store merchant. My sim has become his girlfriend via proposing going steady when she invited him to stay in Riverview. However I'm in France now and I have a vacation home; but as he is a merchant I can never invite him over or out! 

Also, I can't do anything further with their relationship and I've tried really hard but I can't seem to get the option "propose marriage"!!!!

I had a successful relationship with an Egyptian girl sometime ago (and in another save) but now I don't know what's happening and I would really like them to get engaged in France.

Will someone help please????!!!!

PS: I don't want cheats or anything. I'm doing this the proper way!!!

    As far as I know, you can't get married in a foreign country. That would mess up the whole game (cause they need to move in with you). Did that work with your other Sim or did you invite her over and marry her in your hometown ?

    Only way is to invite them over in your home country and marry there (althought to prevent troubles it's safer to move them in first and then get married. Since you can't seem to do that, I don't think there's a cheat-free, mod-free way to achieve what you want.

    As far as I know, you can't get married in a foreign country. That would mess up the whole game (cause they need to move in with you). Did that work with your other Sim or did you invite her over and marry her in your hometown ?

    You made a post - I made a 'signature' until I can unlock a real one 😉  Just educating people.

    Anyways, seems weird to me that you can marry them in a foreign town but frankly, I've never tried.

    Not offended at all! I It's not bad actually...

    I actually remembered (not long after my last post) that I got them married in my sim's home town. Sorry about that. 

    So with this sim what I did was I got them married in her home town and then they just went back to France for their honeymoon! 

    The one irritating thing though is that when a foreigner moves in with you; the don't have a visa level 3! I mean they lived there, they seriously should!!!!

    Thanks for looking for threads. I already saw the one on the Sims 3 forum. The other ones don't really help but thanks all the same.
