Hi I recently have tried to install mods into my game (I know they're kinda outdated now). I followed your instructions and made a Mods folder in my Sims 3 under my documents then added the resource (from the link you provided) and added a new folder under Mods called Packages and then put my mods in there. I deleted the cache files an despite their persistence. But the mods just don't come up in my game. I checked the NET framework and its version 4/higher. The only other thing it might be is the patch. I don't know what patch my game is (its version 1.0.631.00001) I don't know if that's too recent for mods. I tried to work out what patch it is according to my game version and a website told me it was 1.66, so I downloaded the appropriate patches. So idk maybe it's the wrong patch version or I have a too recent game. Your instructions were really clear (thank you) and I have tried them several times using 'the new way'. Anyway if you have and idea why it's not working or anything I'd appreciate it a lot.
Thanks :)
Oh and I also tried downloading the framework ready-made mods file idk the nosparkles thing and it didn't work, I'm guessing this is because it was 'the old way'
As a rule of thumb mods must be at (match) the patch level of your game.
You can hover over the base game icon in the launcher to see where your game is patched. It should match the version on the launcher panel as well as the skuversion.txt file in the base game/bin folder under Programs. If one of your mods is at the wrong patch level and/or out of date it could be the one mod causing none of them to load. You'll have to check them to make sure they are all compatible.
