Yeah, the base game is what's important.
Did you have to make an accuont to install that and if not, how long ago did you buy it (since disc from before Sept. 2011 don't require an orrigin account, only newer ones do)
Just a heads up guys, I know this thread is a little old but I am having the same problem...accessing the setup via the disk files does not work, it still just brings up the Origin login window, which you cannot pass without logging in, pretty angry to be honest. My gaming PC has not, and will not have internet access.
I'm going to see if there is an older used version in my local game store as it seems any copy made post sept 2012 cannot be installed from the disk.
in the future I won't be buying any game that requires I share my data with anyone. I find it an absolute joke. Thanks for screwing over your loyal fans, EA.

More and more games are now and more will be coming as download only. Steam has demostrated just how popular this is. Tombraider 2013 was download Steam only. Even the consoles have their online components. If you are not online you won't be able to get patches and the patches are required to install packs. IDK what to tell you but even Bioshock disc has SecuROM on it and that requires onlilne activation.

I'm really upset about this too. I moved into a house with no internet and bought this game, since I am a long time fan and misplaced my original Sims 3 in the move. I have been sitting at the library for three hours and the game is only installed at 30%. I could not be more angry. I loved playing the sims since the original and now I no longer feel that I will be purchasing the games anymore if this continues.
