I checked the Options tab in Sims 3 and I do not see any option to turn off receiving store advertisements when you are playing the game. It is very annoying. Every time I go into Buy/Build mode while playing the Sims 3, these ads pop up in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
There is a way - I've done it. Though I can't remember.... Let me look...

Thank you for directing me to Crinrict's Sims 3 Help Blog. I'll try to find the Shop Mode button in the game and disable it (not sure to check or uncheck). If that doesn't work, I'll try Crinrict's suggestions. Found the Options Configurations Settings folder in the Electronics Arts folder and saw the enableingamestore was set to 1 (on). First I'll see if I can change the settings in game. If not, then I will change the settings to 0 (off) on my computer. I don't like making changes on my computer because I am not a computer tech. But if it's simple, I think I can handle. If the game doesn't work (I might cry) but I should be able to just change the settings back to what they were. I did notice while playing the game yesterday that there was a button that said Enable Online Notification, which is not checked. Not sure what this is so I'll leave it alone. I'll let you know what happens.
It worked. While playing the game, I clicked on Options, General Settings, then unchecked Enable Shop Mode. No more store ads appearing interrupting the game. I also made the folder Featured Items a read only folder so ads cannot be sent to my computer w/o my permission. Thank you for all you help.
