is the sims 3 playable on mac?

hi! i was wondering if the sims 3 would be able to run on my mac. i am running version 11.7.10. i have also attached all other information about my mac. i just don't want to waste the time installing the sims 3, my expansions, and all my old store content for it to just not work. i have base game, generations, and seasons. i have heard that for the sims 3 to work on a mac, you need to have an "M1 chip", but i'm not sure how to check for that, and was hoping someone could give me a simple answer.

thanks!

  • @Lola18790  An ARM chip (the M-series chips, or Apple Silicon) is not required for 64-bit Sims 3.  Your laptop's hardware (Intel processor and graphics chip) is right on the edge of the minimum requirements, and from what I've seen, you should be able to play with most expansions without too much trouble.  I would suggest not buying Pets, as it probably won't run well on your system, but that's the only recurring issue I've encountered that doesn't have a decent workaround.

I would suggest installing the game itself—base game plus your EPs—and testing it before you go to the trouble of installing any Store content.  Some players do have issues not explained by their hardware alone, and it's easier to troubleshoot those without extra content, plus you might find you need to reinstall some content anyway.
