Lolita Goth's mystery

I have spent most of this week playing The Sims 3, especially with the Goth family in Sunset Valley. I made Gunther Goth become friends with Lolita Goth, who is buried in the family cemetery, so I could resurrect her. I got the “Oh My Ghost!” opportunity, brought her tombstone to the lab and she became a playable ghost.

When I opened her inventory, I found her tombstone and a book titled “A Wall Between Us”. I thought it was an Easter egg since this book cannot be bought in a library and is sold for §2,009 (the year the game was released).

I googled and found a list of all books that exist in game on The Sims Wiki (https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_books_in_The_Sims_3) and this specific book is only added to the game with the World Adventures expansion pack.

However, I only had Generations, Pets, Seasons and University Life expansion packs installed when I resurrected Lolita and only recently I added Late Night to my game. Someone have any idea on how this book was added to her inventory?

  • @markitchun  I would guess the wiki page is wrong.  It's possible the book was added in the patch released alongside World Adventures, not just included in WA.  It's also possible, though less likely, that it was in the base game and no one noticed until WA was released.  Or maybe a later patch made it available for the base game too, or one of your other packs granted access to a wider variety of books.

The book can be bought in Shang Simla, which is probably why the wiki says it's from WA.  But since you have it, the book is clearly not restricted to installs that include WA.

One other unlikely possibility is that your copy was a randomly generated name that just happened to match but isn't the same book.  The Shang Simla version is a romance; I think it has the red/pink cover, but I'm not totally sure.
