(MAC) Black screen without a cursor

I just got the patch 1.66 and my sims 3 has been acting weird. It saids its version 1.66.2.024017,when I try installing something or uninstalling it comes up with a black screen and comes up with an error message. I got the bug dynamic challenge, but my sims still was working,it closes randomly all the time,I can't uninstall it won't load, but worst,it has a black screen when I try to open it. My computer starts making this noise that sounds like the fan,and the cursor goes away to just a plain black screen. I have a MacBook Pro and I've had it for about 2 and a half/3 years. I am so worried about my sims 3 game please help. I have spent so much time making everything on there.PLEASE HELP ☹️.

Don't worry about it - it's just a thread where helpers discuss problems and help each other out. I think Rum forgot to mention your post, so I'll put it there so our MAC helper can take a look.

    Hi

When I press Play on the Launcher, I also get a black screen so this is not unusual. It may stay black for 30 seconds-ish (I'm guessing) and then the game starts. How long do you wait on the black screen? I also hear a whirring sound at this point - it's just the disc spinning in the drive though.

To avoid uninstalling everything but still reset your game setup, follow the instructions under "primary things to try first" in the main Mac help thread:

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/Links-to-Mac-help-threads-and-guides/m-p/749664#U749664

Try it and see if the game will then work. If it does then we know there's something dodgy about your current game folder.

Don't worry too much - make a backup of your saves and any downloads that are important to you. If all else fails you can always reinstall the game and if you have these important files saved elsewhere then you won't lose anything of value.
