@avafione03 As a test, please set up a new admin user account on your Mac. The username should contain only letters and numbers, no special characters; don't sign in with your Apple ID either. You'll be able to open Origin and launch Sims 3, so please do that and see whether you can sign in.
By the way, is the account you're trying to sign into the same one that you used to install the game in the first place? If it's not, that would explain the problem.
So I created the new admin account and it still said "null" when I tried to log in. This is also the same account I had used when I first installed the game.

@emilyeileen99 Did you try the suggestion in post 9? A couple other players, the ones whose posts are immediately above yours, say that helped them.

@avafione03 Do you use a third-party antivirus or a cleaner app? If so, it might be blocking the connection to EA or deleting some file necessary to make that work.
Otherwise, it's worth contacting EA customer support to make sure there's nothing wrong with your account.
