From my experience, running the game in Windows 7 Professional via BootCamp on a 27" iMac (early 2013) gets a noticeable improvement in performance, however, it did not prevent crashing and freezing. Although it crashes less then my Mac version, I still experience crashes and freezing on the Windows version as well.
If you look at the windows tech forum you'll see they are having a lot of same problems that Mac users are. Just not as severely.
The sims has some technical issues that goes beyond platform, imo. Mac users seem to be getting the brunt of it though.
