Thanks for the thread bump and the link. I puttered around with a few things and got my game working again (for now, anyway) but have the bootcamp waiting in the wings if things go south again.
Just in case anyone is interested in what I did so I could play for the moment (and it may be too late for some,) I uninstalled IP, replaced my Sims folder with the back-up I made just before my initial IP install and then I tested the game. All was fine so I reloaded IP and I seem to be playing again. Haven't made any attempts at CAS because I'm using Sims that I saved to the Bin before I reloaded IP and I haven't gotten into any heavy building or remodeling yet either.
So far, so good.
My word of advice for the day is BACK-UP YOUR FOLDER BEFORE INSTALLING NEW CONTENT. Especially if you have Sims and builds and stuff you like and don't want to lose if your game goes south.
