[MAC] My sims 3 won't start

Hi, i have a new MacBook Pro Retina, 2,7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3, it's new (no more than a month ago i bought it) and the sims 3 won't launch.

i can start the launch window and its tell me that there is an update available, but when i go to the update, it says that its already updated. Then, when i click the play button, only appears the window with the sims logo and freeze there. When i quit and try to start again (without turning off the mac) it wont let me start again because it says that the game its already running.

what can i do?? please help!

    I'm afraid the game is not compatible due to the graphics card not being supported in the game. You can try the workaround here, using the relevant details for your graphics card. Some users have managed to play just the base game.

    It's worth downloading and installing the superpatch though. The link is in my signature below. This will update your game to 1.67.

    @bluebellflora thanks for replying!

    i've already tried to download the superpatch, but when i click it (.tgz file) it turns to a .cpgz or a .part file, and then i click that one and it turns to a .tgz file again, and it goes on and on like this. i've already downloaded the unarchiver, stufftl, unrarx and izip unarchiver but they don't seem to work ☹️

    You should have Archive Utility on your Mac which will expand the folder. When you double click on the download it should open automatically and look like this:

    If it doesn't, open Archive Utility by using Spotlight. Click on the little magnifying glass, top right of your screen and start typing Archive Utility. Hit enter when it comes up to open it then go to File > Expand Archive. Navigate to your downloads folder and select the superpatch. When opened it will look like this in your Downloads folder:

    Click the expanded file with the plumbob and you should be able to patch. If you get this:

    go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General then click the lock, enter your password and change the 'Allow apps downloaded from'  to Anywhere (make sure you change it back after patching!).

    This probably won't help your situation because ultimately your graphics card is the problem but you should at least be patched up to date before trying the workaround.
