My sims 3 isn't loading some of my sims

when my game loads some of my sims that show on the left side are blank and I can't do anything with them

    @bev6usa  Do you use mods, or are you willing to add some?  If so, let me know.  Otherwise, the only suggestion I have is to move the sims out of their house and put them back, both in Edit Town mode.  This will preserve their jobs and relationships but erase their promised wishes and opportunities.

    While you're troubleshooting, make sure to delete the five cache files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 every time you quit the game.  For reference, they are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

    @bev6usa  When you say you can't do anything with them, do you mean you can't click their portraits to switch to them?  Can you select them and change their outfits?  Do they ever fix themselves, or are they permanently broken?

    Their portrait is blank. The box where their portrait box is there but it's blank, I can't click on where it's supposed to be or get them to do anything. It does it with more than one. Some show up but not all.

    Delete the cache files (again), load your save, and et the game clock run for a few sim-minutes.  Click the City Hall map tag and select:

    NRaas > MasterController > Town Options > Reset Everything

    The reset may take a few minutes to run, depending on the speed of your computer and the complexity of the save.  When it's finished, you'll get a notification.  Run the game clock for a few more sim-minutes, use "save as" to rename the save (so you don't overwrite your old one), quit, delete the cache files again, reload, and see whether your sims portraits work properly now.
