Yes, you have successfully updated your driver, although I am a bit surprised that there isn't a more recent driver available. I forgot to mention before that you may want to completely shut down your computer as opposed to a restart just to ensure that all changes take effect. If the 'no sound bug' persists, please let me know so that I can further help you to troubleshoot the problem. :)
Edit:
I just wanted to reassure you that you are completely fine having already updated to the generic audio driver from the Realtek homepage, I use that driver myself. I am just suggesting a new method that will accommodate users of variable computer skills.
