There are known incompatibility issues between the Pets EP and the Intel g33/g31 chipset. The animals of the Pets EP make use of a shader driven fur system using advanced rendering techniques. The Intel g33/g31 simply cannot effectively process or render these graphics, and has always struggled to render graphics properly in a lot of games where shaders are concerned. You are currently running the most recent driver that HP offers for your specific model and setup. You'll have to wait and see what suggestion/solution that EA will come up with.
In the mean time, you can check your in-game audio settings in the 'Option' menu under the speaker tab, and try setting your audio quality to 'high' and make sure that you have selected the proper speaker setup for your audio configuration.
