Origin/Sims 3 not working with Mac OS Catalina
I've had the Sims 3 downloaded on my Mac for years now, but yesterday I went to play it and it had a 'no entry' sign over the game icon on my applications folder, then when I tried to open it it said I needed to update it to play it. Ive gone on origin to try and download the latest version, but it won't let me. It keeps coming up with 'error code 3276820' and does not download. When Ive looked on other threads, it tells you to turn off the firewall, which I have done. I've also tried re-installing origin, re-starting my router and my macbook, and nothing has worked. I did get a message from apple saying that I needed to contact the game provider to get a version of the game that was compatible with the latest version of OS (Catalina 10.15.1) So Im wondering if the Sims 3 game is incompatible with this? Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Very frustrating!
@bridiewilkinson1 and @hhhtrend The current version of Sims 3 doesn't work at all in Catalina. The game is 32-bit, and Catalina is 64-bit only. That's why you're getting the error message. There's no way around this issue.
But EA has announced a 64-bit-compatible version of Sims 3, to be released some time in early 2020. Here's the full announcement:
In the interim, your only option is to play in another operating system, either on a different computer, or by installing another OS on your Mac.
