So it seems that EA will not do anything about the graphics card problem as the cards in question are not officially supported anymore.
This is the readme.txt from Generations:

Notice the glaring omission? Yep, any support for the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 has now been withdrawn. The 320M was never on there in the first place, sorry :(
So EA must have been testing in Lion and KNEW that the cards wouldn't work, yet SGHydra still posted this on the other thread:
BTW - the date of the readme.txt file is 23rd March 2011, 4 months ago.....
