Packs are not detected by EA App and the game when I switch ports

The game is installed on an external ssd and when i switched ports the ea app succesfully recognized my base game existing but failed to do so for my packs. Is there a way for me to point ea app my install location or a permenant solution? I am on an M1 MBA and it only has two usb c ports and I plan to change ports a lot depending on what I need. Like is there a way to make it work reliably even if connect a usb hub to a usb hub to a usb hub to a usb hub to a usb hub to a mac, as long as the OS sees it I want the ea app to detect it as it should be as an app done by a billionare company.

  • For anyone reading this going forward, we talked about this in a Sims Discord, and the main issue is that the mount point for the SSD was incorrect, with a 1 appended to the end of its name.  So the path to the game and the Packs folder was also incorrect.

The hub used here may be an issue as well.  Not all USB hubs are created equal, and this one may have been disconnecting the SSD, causing the problem with the mount point.  Additionally, since it was mentioned, daisy-chaining hubs together is known to be a problem with any device that requires power delivery; this is not an EA App problem.

@puzzlezaddict Yes that was the issue and although it's fine now, if any EA person sees this, this should be handled automatically by the EA App since the OS did add the " 1" text to the path automatically. Casual users have no way of knowing this is the case since the Finder shows it as its original path, only via terminal commands like "pwd" show the actual expected path. And also, even after this, I still sometimes have to repair the app to even get the EA app to launch the game. It takes a few seconds but again considering this is the "launcher" of all of your games it should be absolute perfection, not whatever this is.
