The Sims 3 expansion packs keep on failing to download, I am on a Windows 8 PC, and each time I start to download my expansions I keep getting the 'Download error: pease check your internet connection or try again later'
I have checked and rechecked my connection and even called up my provider, however nothing seems to be wrong my end... if someone could please help I would love it,

Community AdminHey, please try relaunching Origin as an administrator. It might also help to check that Origin is whitelisted for your Anti-Virus and Firewall.
If this has no effect, do all games have issues downloading through Origin? You can try downloading an alternate game* and see if you run into issues there too.
*Plants Vs Zombies is currently free with On The House if you don't have it already, and it has a relatively small download size.
I ran Origin as Admin and made sure it was whitelisted for my firewall. My firewall has no problem, that's all good.
I did as you suggested and tried downloading Plants Vs Zombies, that too failed. I had recently installed Origin (as I had to buy a new laptop...) So I am no closer to finding out what is wrong.

Make sure you have Proxies turned off.
Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN Settings --> Untick Proxy Server
