Re: Cant download Sims 3 University on origin.

@volkypr  Are you seeing the issue where you click the Download button and nothing happens?  If so, please try this workaround:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Sims-3-64-bit-packs-won-t-download/m-p/9788377#M14594

If your computer runs Windows, just clear Origin's cache (again) instead of running the Origin reset tool.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

I haven't heard of the Origin technical preview causing any issues in Windows, at least not this time around, but you can try disabling it as well.

If this isn't your issue, please let me know whether you have a Download button for University Life at all, and if so, what happens when you click it.

@puzzlezaddict That second link is what I tried, ive done it twice now, I do infact have the option to download in my origin launcher, I click it and nothing happens. I have a theory on what might be happening but if it is correct I dont know how I would go about fixing it.

I admittedly havent played in a while and I think I might have previously downloaded university life, but im not sure?? Im only basing this off the fact that I have this particular folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\EP09" and the icon file seems to look like the university logo. Is it possible that its already downloaded but its just not registering it as downloaded and not running it when i boot up my game?

@volkypr  Are you trying to download from the Sims 3 launcher?  If a pack is listed in the Expansions & Stuff tab in the launcher, that means it's already installed.  All you need to do to get it to load in-game is check it off.  The Install button is supposed to be in case you don't see a pack listed that you own.

@volkypr  Did you try the workaround in the first link I posted?  It's not simply about clearing the cache; that's just one step.  The overall process is to try to get Origin to automatically download your pack, which it may or may not want to do the first time around.

@puzzlezaddict Will that work? I'm not on mac, I turned on auto update now but not much has changed even after turning origin on and off, I have all my other DLC installed (I own all the expansions except island paradise) and this problem is only affecting University.

@volkypr  It's worth trying.  The last time this problem surfaced was two years ago, and it showed up in macOS before migrating to Windows.  This workaround helped most people sooner or later, although it was often not enough to simply enable auto updates and quit and reopen Origin.  That's where clearing the cache comes in.

If it doesn't work though, I'll flag the issue and see if there's anything else that can be done.  If you'd like to experiment a bit more yourself, you can clear Origin's cache and uninstall "the hard way."

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

When you reinstall, uncheck ALL the boxes offered on the setup screen, everything from enabling auto updates to sharing hardware info.  Then enable auto updates, quit Origin, and reopen it.

@puzzlezaddict Hrm I think im just gonna wait till Origin updates and maybe it'll fix itself, ive tried about 4 different methods and its all come up the same way :/ , thank you tho for tryin for so long, very much appreciated.

By any chance do you know if Origin does scheduled updates or some form of maintenance so that I can know when to check?

@volkypr  Origin updates when it feels like it, or at least it seems that way.  I think it's about once a week, but I've never really paid close attention, to be honest.  If I hear anything about this issue potentially being addressed in an update, I'll post here to let you know.
