Re: Where are the custom content files for Sims 3 64?

@puzzlezaddictHi! I think I need you because you always have great answers for people like miself. So today, I launched the Sims 3 like I did yesterday, when everything was fine. All of my CC (which comes from The Sims Store) disapeared from the launcher and of course the game. In my DCCache, there's a fine called "missingdeps.idx", I also check my Saves file and there is not a .bad file, meaning I don't think the game is corrupted... But it is, isn't it? Can you help me, I'm not sure what I should do to retrieve my CC (and assure in somes ways that I don't lose it again, what happened?). By the way my onedrive isn't synch with this document anymore, it hasn't been since I started this game since I disabled it.

  • Hello!

I don't understand what happened to my game. Like usual, I just launched the game. Then, I got into my town in the family I created and that I've been playing for a while. A pop : "some objects couldn't download, they may be missing"... Okay? I tried to see what were those objects... I don't have much CC, only from the Sims store, because I just started playing again on this new computer (Windows 11) and I didn't have any trouble BUT regarding synchronisation with onedrive, which I disabled totally from the Documents folder, and everything worked for DAYS.

So, to continue what happened today, I got out of my game and realise everything I've downloaded from the Sims store wasn't appearing in my launcher again... I closed EA app and everything, I openned it again and then I realise all of my expansions where disabled too in the launcher, like when the game is brand new. The current game is still working for some reasons but I can't find the CC from the Store in my computer.

I checked in the Document folder, in "current game", it's empty but like the my town and its backup is in Saves. There are no corrupted files there. I am very confuse, please help me what the... is going on???

  • @emeulydamnit  I've split your post into its own thread since the other thread was somewhat old and about a Mac issue.  It sounds like your computer runs Windows since you've mentioned OneDrive.

Please see this section of my Store guide:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Store-Issues/Read-First-Sims-3-Store-guide/m-p/13479922#Disappear

You may well need to reinstall your Store content from scratch.  I would recommend making a backup copy of your Sims 3 user folder with nothing except Store content in it so you can restore that later if necessary.

The CurrentGame folder should always be empty unless you currently have a save loaded.  It gets emptied when you quit.  The only time you'd see files inside without Sims 3 running is if the game crashed and failed to empty the folder.

    Hi!

So like I said in my dm, this isn't working. Repairing did nothing. I'm at lost. I think I'm just gonna delete everything and start from fresh, see what happens.

It's not working. I've uninstalled the whole thing, reinstalled it, the game it self works but the CC won't be downloaded from the file I put all of the CC in. They say to check if my game has the latest update. Doesn't make sense. Ideas? (btw it's working if I go to the Store, the cc can be downloaded properly, althought I'm unsure if it will get uninstalled when I shut my computer off tonight... I'll have to try. Please help, I'm so tired... my computer is brand new (windows 11).

@emeulydamnit  Is the problem currently Store content (made by EA), Exchange content (made by third parties), or both? When you uninstalled everything, did that include deleting or removing the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts?  If not, please do that now.  Don't delete it if you have saves or other user data you'd like to preserve; removing it will be sufficient.

Open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, download one item you'd like to use from the Store or Exchange, and try to install it.  If it doesn't show in-game, please let me know what it is, including a link if it's from the Exchange.  Some older user-made content isn't compatible with the current version of Sims 3, and I can more or less confirm that by trying to install it on my own computers.
