Screen dark or hazy

Spycoo16​  Are you playing in fullscreen or windowed mode when this happens, and does switching make the game look right again?  Is this after you've restarted your computer, or have you been letting it run for a while, and maybe had other applications running in the background?  If you have a laptop, is it plugged in or running on battery?

For reference, please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

• fullscreen and I dont know how to switch the game to windows
• I read that it could be because of exiting the game then re-entering, so I stopped doing that and still get it. I also don't play with background browsers open anymore. 
• My laptop is usually low battery, so I do have it plugged in.

From this last discussion,Spike glitch | EA Forums - 5053790  I got this graphics card and it fixed my spike glitch issue. Will this new card be bad for my computer? Have AI components (I do not like AI)? Or make glitches come back?

Spycoo16​  We're not talking about a graphics card, just a driver, as in, the software rather than the hardware.

Most laptop manufacturers don't update their graphics drivers all that often.  It's typically fine because the generic driver from the GPU manufacturer (Intel in this case) works well enough.  But because the driver from the manufacturer of the laptop is often adjusted a little to work with that particular laptop, it's usually better while it's still new enough to be compatible with whatever you're running.  That's why the suggestion is to try it first.

Hello ok I used the ddu and uninstalled my graphics card then reinstalled the one that was on the lenovo page you linked. I had been getting notifs about my intel driver, should I also update that? (Theyre linking me here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html)

but im a novice on tech so I thought it had to do with the intel thing I downloaded for the spike glitch. Now that I changed it, so far the hazy house seems to be good. BUT the screen is still dark, and when my sim was leaving a night club the dreaded spike glitch was back. When the spike glitch came back I had my settings higher because I thought the new graphics card would help, but after seeing the spike I put everything back on medium except my sims detail is on high and lot detail is 2 lots.

Not sure if this is related but my sims were  at a costume party and one sim who was dressed as a ninja turned into black skin with pigtails and a towel over her. The spike glitch happened shortly after, not sure if its related?

Spycoo16​  The spikes can be a random event, but this kind of thing is often associated with bad custom content.  The same goes for the outfit glitch you've described, in fact I think that almost exclusively happens with bad cc.

And again, this is about a graphics driver, not a graphics card.  The card (or chip) is the hardware: the physical component that, in almost all laptops at least, is soldered to the motherboard and therefore cannot be upgraded or updated.  The driver is the software that tells the system how to use the hardware, and what you've been replacing.

If you're getting notifications about updating the Intel graphics driver, you can ignore them for now, since this is the driver you've been replacing.  As for the dimness, did you test in both fullscreen and windowed modes?  I don't see anything about that in your replies.

Do lots from the sims 3 store count as cc? I downloaded 3 lots from the sims exchange on the 8th, and my game has been a bit laggy since. I saved the lots to my game then uninstall them through my launcher because I liked to edit lots to make them my own. Should I delete the lots?

I also installed the smoothness patch but then I deleted it from my bin because it didnt make things that much more smooth? Could that be contributing to lag and glitch issues? 

Also yes I forgot to say I did try to play windowed, but it was vrey tiny. The background is my desktop and the window is the game but it wont let me make it bigger. Its not as laggy and I do not see any spike glitch but its hard its hard to see anything lol

The game is also still dark. Here is my sim running away from a firefighter event, its nighttime but it just seems darker than usual. 

The ground under my house is also see through? Im sharing all of these because it seems like they arent random individual problems but all spawn from my sims costume glitching? After the costume party all of these additional glitches reemerged.

Just want to say I appreciate all your help btw I know I seem to be compounded problems with this issue. 

You might want to try switching the game to windowed mode — a lot of players notice the screen looks darker or hazy only in full-screen. Also check that compatibility mode is off, update your graphics drivers, and confirm your resolution matches your monitor’s native setting. If you use mods or custom content, try disabling them temporarily to see if that fixes it. Hope that helps!
