Sign In With EA Account?!

When I launch the game, it says to "Sign in with your EA Account to activate The Sims 3 on this computer."

How do I do that? I am launching via the EA app, I have nowhere to type anything (see attached image), and have no mods/custom content installed. Tried already to uninstall and reinstall both EA app and The Sims 3.

  • Some1Somewhere  If you X out the window, in the upper-right corner of your screenshot, and try again, do you get the same pop-up?  This prompt appears for most players after the update from a few weeks ago, but typically only the one time.

  • I'm having the same problem. No matter how many times I launch the game, I get that pop up and closing it quits the launch. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the EA App and the game.

The game was working fine until I rebooted my computer earlier this morning, and it installed an update.

    Any ideas?

  • Sanquelle  Try entering your username and password one time.  Whether the prompt accepts your login data or not, this may get you past the message the next time around.

If that doesn't help, try a different network, if possible.  For example, if your computer can use wifi, set your phone as a mobile hotspot, using data rather than your home network, just long enough to try to launch Sims 3.  That shouldn't use much data, and after that, you can test your old network again, or put the EA App in offline mode before launching the game.

If that doesn't help, try playing in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) open Sims 3 without reinstalling it.
