Sims 3 - "There is a problem connecting to the server..." installation error

@Xentik95  IT looks like there are a couple of different issues with Mirror's Edge, and this workaround may only work for one of them.  Here's a thread about the more complex fixes; feel free to ask for more specific advice there.  Responders will want to know how you're installing (disc or Origin), as well as your OS.

actually for mirror's edge 2007

-purchase on origin : no activation with securom apparently / origin activation ?

-box purchase : securom activation and paul.dll problem

-dematerialized version of origin with the box installation key : securom activation and paul.dll problem

hello i'm really hoping someone can help i'm desperate :  so when i open sims  on origin it launches i press the play button and it says sorry cannot connect to server please make sure internet is active if this persist try again later. iv'e contacted ea so many times and i did everything they said still nothing i updated my computer then one of the workers said its because you updated your computer which does not make sense because it didn't work before then either. i will connect picture of the message if you've had this problem pleas help i was supposed to be ding a project with sims but it has not worked in ages thanks

Hi, I first got my sims 3 game in 2011 and have been a loyal player. I changed from a pc to a Mac in 2015 and even though there were tiny problems eventually I worked them out and it has been fine ever since.

When the sims 4 came out I deleted the sims 3 to make room for sims 4 on my computer however I have recently been wanting to download the sims 3 and play it again. About two weeks ago i first downloaded it and the first error message was 'the game process could not be started' so then I tried uninstalling it and updating it to the latest version and then the error message changed to "There is a problem connecting to the server. Please ensure your internet connection is active. If the problem persists try again later." Then later on another message popped up saying there was trouble contacting the license server please try again in a few minutes. 

I have been in contact countless times with EA help and every troubleshooting step they have given me isn't working so if anyone has any other things than the ones I have listed below that will work please please let me know. So below are the things I have tried already:

• Clean uninstall and reinstall about a hundred times
• Clean uninstall of origin and reset origin
• Try playing the updated version of the sims 3 and the non updated version of the sims 3
• Updated my mac to the newest version (10.14)
• Bypass the launcher
• Open another user account on my mac and try to download and play on that
• Attempted to play in safe mode
• Asked origin to disable my game and add a new one to my library
• Check the proxies aren't blocking connection
• Check the firewall isn't blocking the connection
• Checking other apps aren't preventing the connection by getting up activity monitor and shutting down my other processes
• Deleting cache files origin and the sims 3
• Used the mac first aid
• Tried playing and downloading on another network in a complete different area
• I also have no CC or mods

There are so many things I have done including reporting a bug and also contacted specialists who said they would email me but haven't. Please PLEASE help.
